Luton Town Cedars enjoy a silverware-laden campaign

The Luton Town Cedars U18 Development Squad built on the successes of last season with another excellent campaign.

From the nine competitions they entered, Hatters picked up three winners trophies, plus a runners-up spot, one third place and two semi-final appearances.

Town triumphed in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League Corinthian Division, plus the Bedfordshire Schools County Cup and the South Beds District Cup.

The were second in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League Divisional Champions Play Off and finished third in the Football Conference Youth Alliance, London/South East Division.

Town also reached the final four in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League Colwyn Cup and Brian Hitchings Cup.

Along with the trophies, the programme has seen both Callum Gregory and Luke Dunstant go back to Luton on day release to work with the club’s professional scholars.

Head coach Stuart Smith said: “As well as the lads have performed this season in some respects we are all a little disappointed with the final trophy haul.

“We felt that with the quality we possess we should have finished the season with six or seven trophies, but unfortunately injuries to key forward players at important times impacted on our ability to score goals in knock out games.

“However the most satisfying aspect of the season has been the vastly improved quality of the football played.”
