Luton Town's spending on agents fees revealed

Luton Town spent £298,140, the lowest in the Championship, on fees to agents between February 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020, according to figures released by the FA yesterday.

The Hatters made a number of new signings in that time, not least investing a club record fee in Croatian goalkeeper Simon Sluga in July, plus also bringing in players such as Callum McManaman, Martin Cranie, Jacob Butterfield, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Brendan Galloway, Kazenga LuaLua, Donervon Daniels and Peter Kioso.

There were loan deals for Izzy Brown, Luke Bolton, James Bree and Cameron Carter-Vickers, along with new contracts for James Shea, Harry Cornick, Andrew Shinnie and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu too.

Town's total outgoings are just below the other promoted sides, with Charlton spending £303,896 and Barnsley £311,935.

They are some way behind the the top payers, with Stoke City, whom manager Nathan Jones spent eight months in charge of, shelling out £5,683,904 and Swansea City on £5,199,242.

The total in the Championship was £49,299,123, over £200m less than the Premier League, with clubs in the top flight spending £263,368,860, leaders Liverpool top with £30,308,791.

Luton's expenditure is over double than the previous season where they spent £124,069, but is also less than three League One sides in Sunderland (£1,346,373), Coventry City (£353,632) and Ipswich Town (£325,262).
