The Norwich City youngster fell awkwardly in the opening 15 minutes at Roots Hall and was eventually replaced by Shaun Whalley, as he was clearly in pain.

McGeehan then had his arm in a sling when he returned to applaud the 2,000 plus travelling supporters and tweeted yesterday: “Possible fractured elbow getting scanned in the week thanks for the messages, gutted about the result, unreal support again.”

Speaking after the game, boss John Still also felt that would be the likely outcome as he added: “We think he’s got a fracture but we’ll have to wait and see and he’ll have an x-ray.”

“We thought we could get some diagonals on the left back and did quite a bit a work on it, so were were all quite happy with it, but then he gets the injury and has to go off. That’s been the story of our season.”
