Town had struggled to break down their opponents during the first half, but once Andre Gray opened the scoring just after the break, there was only ever one outcome.

McGeehan said: “I think the lads are really fit at the club, we know we can break down teams as the game wears on.

“We knew as they get tired we can wear them down and the fans get right behind us as well.

“It helps us keep driving on, and we saw that as we scored all our goals in the second half.

“It was tough, conditions were different to what I’m used to, The pitch is quite heavy out there as we’ve got some bad weather, but it’s all part of the experience you’ve got to gain,

“The level is good, they are a top team and I can see that as we’re winning games and scoring good goals.

“It’s definitely a good step up for me, but like I said before, all I want to do is just keep winning for Luton. I’m not going to make it about me having a good experience.”

The Norwich City youngster was thrown straight into Town’s midfield for his league debut, but admits he has been made to feel right at home by everyone at Kenilworth Road.

McGeehan continued: “I know there was an injury to Smudge (Jonathan Smith) that opened up a little opportunity for me, so I’ve worked hard since I’ve been here.

“I’m glad to be in the team and the gaffer’s been right behind me.

“I’ve settled in well too. The gaffer and coaching staff have made me feel like a Luton player since I got here and I’m trying to help the team get in this league.”

The teenager almost marked his debut with a first half goal, sending a left-footed volley inches over the bar as he said: “It was on the left side, so I just got my head over it and thought it might whistle in.

“It wasn’t to be, maybe next week I’ll grab one, but all you care about is the result.”
