McGeehan hails Hatters’ sign of intent

Luton confirmed they had shelled out an undisclosed six-figure fee for the 20-year-old’s services yesterday afternoon, after two successful loan spells at Kenilworth Road.

With the Canaries retaining a ‘significant’ sell-on clause too, speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette, McGeehan said: “I think it’s a big sign of intent for the club.

“They want to bring young players in, like Pelly Ruddock and progress up the league.

“They want to do it from a solid base too, not just buy loads of old players and get up to League One but maybe have to come down again.

“It’s what’s football in England lacks as you don’t have players getting the chances up the leagues as you’re getting all these foreigners in, so it’s a great thing for Luton to do, and I’m really happy.”

It’s not just McGeehan who fits the bill either, with Town adding Dan Potts (West Ham) and Jack Marriott (Ipswich) to their ranks, while negotiations are still ongoing for QPR defender Michael Harriman, leaving the incoming midfielder impressed by Luton’s summer of recruitment thus far.
