McGeehan in no rush to hit the front just yet

Luton’s run of four wins and a draw from their last five games has propelled them to 10th in the table, as they trail leaders Plymouth Argyle by eight points.

However, despite being held by York at Kenilworth Road last weekend, McGeehan believes Town are handily placed as he said: “A point wasn’t a bad result,it’s not the worst thing in the world.

“There’s no rush to be at the top, the only time you need to be at the top is at the end of the season.”

One thing that McGeehan did insist needs to happen though is that Hatters cut out the defensive mishaps that saw them concede another soft goal to the Minstermen on Saturday.

He continued: “It was very sloppy, that defending wasn’t good enough.

“It was a basic free kick and all you’ve got to do is clear it. We haven’t and that’s been the theme for the season.

“That’s not good enough and that’s not going to get us where we want to be. We need to cut them out as of now and hopefully that won’t happen again.

“We’ve said that before and it’s not great to be chasing a game that you’re in total control of, so hopefully we can learn from that.

“Going a goal down is tough, but the manager kept saying to us Germany played in the week and got beaten off a bad goal. One long ball and switching off and they’re the best team in the world.

“So it happens, we’ve just got to make sure it doesn’t happen too many times to us.”

Hatters are back in action this weekend when they visit Crawley Town and McGeehan retains the belief they can extend their unbeaten sequence.

He added: “They had a good result against Leyton Orient at the weekend, so might be looking to build on that.

“We’ll go into it very confident, we’re unbeaten so it’s good and we’re scoring goals, especially away from home.

“Hopefully we can go there and get back to winning ways.”
