The on-loan Norwich City midfielder was substituted after just 20 minutes against Southend and re-appeared at the final whistle in a sling.

McGeehan then tweeted on Sunday: “Possible fractured elbow getting scanned in the week thanks for the messages, gutted about the result, unreal support again!”

However, speaking on Monday, boss John Still allayed those worries, although admitted he would probably miss Saturday’s final League Two clash with Stevenage.

He said: “We believe it isn’t a fracture, but it is a nasty knock, so we wouldn’t think he’s available this weekend.”

Meanwhile, with the play-offs an unlikely possibility, Still didn’t rule out defender Scott Griffiths featuring despite needing an operation.

He added: “We’ll speak to him and speak to the surgeon and then make a decision.”
