The on-loan Norwich City youngster has been deployed further forward in recent weeks, hitting the target at the weekend to make it six for the season after also scoring three while at Cambridge United.

He said: “It was lovely to score, that was my sixth of the season and it’s something I’ve been developing at Luton.

“I’ve been able to push on with Smudge (Jonathan Smith) and Doyley (Nathan Doyle) sitting a bit more.”

“I saw it coming over and you try and head it back across and make it difficult for people. I think Elliot Lee pushed everyone out the way and left a gateway for it to go in, so it was great to score early.

“That gave the team the elevation they needed to go on and dominate the game.”

After a sticky start to his second spell at Kenilworth Road, McGeehan is starting to flourish once more, as he always felt he would, adding: “A lot had gone on before, I came in at a tough time, low in confidence and the team got changed round a little bit.

“I knew it would come good in the end, it’s a great club, great manager, players that want to perform. So once we got the nucleus right again, we’ve managed to get it going again.

“It’s a special stadium for me too, the first stadium I ever played at in front of a great crowd. My first, first team environment to play in too.

“I love going out there, putting on the orange, it’s what I wanted to do since I left, now I’m able to do it and we’ve got some good wins under our belt.

“We need to keep believing and keep the fans doing what they’re doing best, keep singing away and celebrating.”
