McGeehan wants to nail down his own position at Kenilworth Road

The on-loan Norwich City youngster has endured a difficult time since returning to the club, being utilised in a number of different roles.

He’s been asked to play as a holding midfielder and in a 4-4-2, but at Tranmere on Monday, McGeehan was given extra attacking duties and thrived with the shackles off, netting Town’s winner.

He said: “I’d just like to have a position. If I’m going to sit I’d be happy to sit and do that.

“If I’m playing in a (number) 10 (role), that’s what I like to do as well. I did it at Cambridge and scored a few goals.

“I’ve been stuck in limbo for the last few games, not knowing whether to push on, go and get a goal, or to sit.

“That’s been addressed. I was playing high (against Tranmere) and that was my role.

“I hadn’t played with (Nathan) Doyle before, so it was good to play with him and have the security in there to bomb on like I have been doing at Cambridge.”

Town boss John Still believed the club hadn’t seen the best of McGeehan in his second spell at Kenilworth Road yet, an assessment the midfielder, who admitted he found it hard being dropped to the bench for two games recently, agreed with.
