McNulty loving his life at Luton

Last month the 30-year-old signed a new contract that will keep him at Kenilworth Road until the summer of 2016.

McNulty has become something of a crowd favourite with Town after moving from Fleetwood Town in January 2012, although admitted he had seriously considered hanging up his boots.

He said: “It was tough at the time because I was getting messed about at Fleetwood but it was honestly one of the best decisions of my life, coming down here.

“It was tough to come away from home but, at the minute, my personal life is really good.

“I’ve got a family and another baby on the way so I couldn’t be much happier.

“I’m loving my football and I look back on it now as being a good decision because I’ve come here and we’ve been promoted. I’m really happy.”

McNulty, like most of the Hatters’ squad this term, faces greater competition for his place in the side.

Former Dagenham & Redbridge Player of the Year Luke Wilkinson joined this summer, adding to the central defensive ranks that already boasted the young talents of Alex Lacey and Fraser Franks.

Despite his own desires for longevity at Luton, McNulty believes his central defensive team-mates all have the potential to play football in better divisions than League Two.
