McQuoid urges Luton to stay on a winning run

The Hatters shot up the table recently after a run of four straight wins, but then followed that up by taking a mere two points out of the next available 12.

However, Town defeated bottom side Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 in their last league outing and beat Crawley Town in the FA Cup at the weekend as McQuoid said: “The league is our main priority. We got the result at Dagenham last week, it wasn’t our best performance, so we’ve just got to take that on now.

“Two games, two wins and we need to take that into the league now and go on a little run again.”

Manager John Still echoed his striker’s thoughts and hopes Luton finally start to show their strenth.

He said: “I think we’re a confident side and the season is just unfolding.

“We’re in the next round of the FA Cup, two wins from the top three, lets try and push on now.

“We’ve had two really positive away games, scored four goals, so we are scoring away from home.

“We just need to add the goals to the home games.”

Goalkeeper Elliot Justham was also confident that Luton will be back amongst the promotion chasers if they can produce some consistent results.

He said: “It will be good if we can string a few wins together, look right up the table and head towards a play-off and then automatic space.

“Hopefully we get a few wins in the next few weeks.”

Meanwhile, McQuoid, 25, is Town’s in-form attacker at the moment with his brace against Crawley making it three goals in three games.

He knows how important it is for Luton to have goals from their front men, saying: “It’s always good for the team as with four strikers, if one striker isn’t doing it, you know you’ve got another there waiting to come in and do the job, so it eggs you on to do better.”

Still was delighted to see the summer signing from Bournemouth become a threat in front of goal and is confident there is more to come, adding: “Josh is starting to show some of the form that got him a good move to Millwall from Bournemouth when Millwall were a bigger club than Bournemouth.

“If you look at his age, he’s a great age. He’s at the age he can play the next three or four years the best football of his life and hopefully it will be here at Luton.
