Mendy back in from the cold at Staines

Town midfielder Arnaud Mendy was back in a Luton Town shirt at the weekend, despite manager John Still saying he would never play for the club again, writes Mike Simmonds.

Mendy, whose last game was at Wrexham on March 16, has been frozen out after a breach of discipline shortly after Still took over.

The Frenchman has been made available for loan, with no takers, but started against Staines Town as first team coach Hakan Hayrettin said: “Maybe he (Still) thought to himself that we’re lacking in numbers and it’s an opportunity to play Mendy.

“Maybe he thought to himself it’s an opportunity to play Mendy so other people can see him and take him, or I’ll just give him a go, see how he gets on.”
