The 26-year-old was released by the Hatters last month after an alleged incident with a taxi driver and pleaded not guilty to five charges of assault last week.

He will next appear at Luton Crown Court on July 21, but has been unveiled by the Whites, where he spent time on loan at last term, scoring five goals in 10 games.

A statment on Dover’s official website said: “The club are aware of Ricky’s current personal issues and impending court case.

“The contract was agreed some time ago and with Ricky pleading not guilty, the club believe it is right to apply the principle that he is innocent until proven guilty.

“Ricky has been turning up to training for every session and has a partner and child to support, so the club considers it fair to honour the contract, subject to the outcome of the impending court hearing.”
