Money lauds complete Hatters

Boss thrilled by five-star performance

LUTON Town manager Richard Money felt his side gave virtually a complete performance as they destroyed York City 5-0 at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night, writes Mike Simmonds.

After the visitors had goalkeeper Michael Ingham sent off with just 15 minutes gone, Town ran riot with goals from Andy Drury, Claude Gnakpa, Lloyd Owusu, Zdenek Kroca and Taiwo Atieno.

A delighted Money said: “I thought we played extremely well and it was almost the complete performance.

“Some of our play in the first half was scintillating.

“I couldn’t ask too much more of the team really and it was a big, big win against a side that were in form.”

It has become the norm for a side to defend for their lives when reduced to 10 men, but there was no such resistance from City, who shipped four goals before the break.

The boss added: “The goalkeeper getting sent off makes life very difficult for them.

“It’s never easy against 10, but I would suggest that we’re probably the toughest team to play against 10 v 11 because we move the ball so well.

“We’ve made the most of it (the red card) and scored, so it’s a double whammy getting the keeper sent off and a goal as well.

“I was really pleased that we were able to move the ball as well as we did on a pitch that was heavy and sticky.

“I just hope everyone is going to eulogise about a wonderful Luton Town performance.”
