Money targets victory over the Dons

Hatters could move top with Wimbledon win

TOMORROW night’s trip to table-topping AFC Wimbledon is one of huge importance according to Luton boss Richard Money, writes Mark Wood

Victory could see the Hatters top of the Blue Square Bet Premier and the Hatters chief is in no doubt it’s even more important than even a potential FA Cup third round clash at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.

Money said: “It’s a bigger game, there’s no doubt about it.

“We played well against them at home. We know they are a really good team.

“They show no sign of fading away and personally I think they will stay the course.

“They’ve got some good players and one of two players we’ve been interested in in the past.”

The Town boss also admitted he’s been impressed with the Wombles’ work in the transfer market.

Money continued: “They’ve been very cute, their manager is very astute and knows the non-league game around the London area. Tactically he’s very good.

“It’s going to be a good game, two football teams and two teams that want to play their football on the floor. It’s a real big game for both teams.”

Jason Walker and Alex Lawless, who were both cup tied for the weekend’s FA Cup second round draw at League One high-flyers Charlton, are both available.

Northampton loan signing Craig Hinton is in the squad, but new winger Charlie Henry is ruled out with a slight knock he picked up while playing for former club Newport County.

Money said: “Hopefully he won’t be too long.”

Left-back Freddie Murray is still out, with Money saying: “Freddie has a virus and was particularly ill over the weekend and is not available for tomorrow.”

And he hinted at no changes for tomorrow’s game, adding: “It’s not a headache. The 11 that started on Saturday were excellent and that will come into the thought process.”
