New Luton signing Jordan Clark was happy to see some familiar faces when turning up to his first day at the Brache this week.

The 26-year-old, who arrived on a free transfer from Accrington Stanley, becoming Town's first signing of the summer, is well known to striker James Collins, the pair having been at Shrewsbury for two seasons earlier in their careers.

Clark also played with Martin Cranie at Barnsley as a youngster and was then part of a Stanley side with defender Matty Pearson as well, before the defender himself moved to Oakwell.

On linking up with his former team-mates once more, Clark said: “Collo I played with for two years, great lad, top player, so I’m looking forward to playing up top with him really and trying to set him up a couple of times.

“There’s a couple of them as well, Martin Cranie I was with at Barnsley and Matty Pearson, I played with him a couple of years at Accrington most recently.

“I get on really well with Matty, he’s a Yorkshire lad as well, so he’s made it easy to fit in, as have all the lads.

“It can be nervous when you don't know people at first, but for me, knowing people, it was easy for me to settle in.

"Being away from football for so long (due to the coronavirus) was crazy, I just missed it and just missed being around a group of lads again.

"Training on your own is not the same, so I'm just looking forward to coming into training every day now.

"I go to sleep and I just can't wait to wake up again and come in again.

"All the lads have been really kind, really welcoming, it's a great set of lads, and the team spirit is just bang on.

"I can’t wait for the games to come round now."

Much has been made of Town's team spirit, particularly under returning boss Nathan Jones, as a huge factor in the club staying up last term.

It's something that Clark has already noticed during his brief time with the Hatters, adding: "Definitely, they've made me feel very welcome.

"Keeping all the lads from last season is massive for the club, as they want to kick on this season with myself included, which I’m really looking forward to.

"The team spirit’s great, and I’m sure it will make for a really ambitious season.

"We’ll do everything we can to win as many games as possible and strive for as high as we can which is what you’ve got to do.”
