Norrington-Davies unfazed by Town being cast as favourites for Chairboys clash

Town defender Rhys Norrington-Davies doesn’t believe there is any extra pressure on his side for this afternoon’s Championship clash against Wycombe Wanderers, despite being cast in the unusual position of favourites going into the contest.

The Chairboys came up from League One via the play-offs last term, and have struggled to get to grips with the division so far, losing all three of their matches, conceding eight goals and yet to score themselves.

They are one of the few, if not the only side, with a smaller budget than the Hatters this term, as Town find themselves expected to come out on top, for one of the first times since being a second tier club themselves.

However, Norrington-Davies doesn't think that will have any undue effect on his team-mates, saying: "It won’t be hard to handle at all.

"You might say we’re favourites going into the game, we take every game as it comes, but it's one that I want to be winning and I think that we're good enough to beat any team on our day.

"If we go out and play how we usually play and we're solid at the back, I know we’ll create a chance to score.

"Hopefully we can build on our play this weekend and get a couple of goals.

“I’m looking forward to the game and hopefully we'll get another win.

"It’s one that I think we should be winning, but you never think that going into any game.

"I want to win every game, if I’m honest I go into every game thinking I want to win every game and we’ll just take it from there.”

Norrington-Davies was past of a Rochdale side who were beaten twice by Gareth Ainsworth's men last term in League One, losing 3-0 at Spotland and then 2-1 in Buckinghamshire.

He added: “I played them twice last season, they're a decent side, they got promoted through the play-offs and they’re good at what they do.

"We just need to be on our game and be the better side on the day.”
