Hatters’ 10th signing of the summer Mark O’Brien is grateful to Luton for taking the plunge to sign him after his release from Derby County.
The 22-year-old was unveiled as Luton’s latest addition during the club’s pre-season tour of Portugal last week.

O’Brien had enjoyed a successful a loan spell at Motherwell last year, but with the change in manager at Pride Park, with Paul Clement replacing Steve McClaren, he found his services no longer required.
He said: “I felt as though, with the change of manager and the direction that club is going, I need to make a career for myself now.
“I was over the moon and delighted that Luton have taken the chance of bringing me to the club.
“When I heard about where Luton are progressing to and where they should be, it was a no-brainer to join as they’re a massive club.
“Once they asked me to go on the pre-season tour to Portugal, I was more than happy to pack up everything within the space of a day and fly over.”
On deciding to become a Luton player, O’Brien was immediately whisked off with the rest of the squad to their Portugal training camp and felt the timing of everything had been ideal.
He continued: “You want to get to know your team-mates as quick as you can.
“There’s no better opportunity than a pre-season tour when you have to stay in the same hotel and have to get on with each other, and the whole group got on like a house on fire, so it went as well as I’d hoped.”
