Mike Harrison and Viv Busby were also on target for the Hatters, who took a huge leap towards winning promotion to Division Two by thumping the Royals, as they eventually finished second in the table to Leyton Orient. 1. Alan Starling
Goalkeeper who came through the youth system at Kenilworth Road was making his Luton debut in the game after replacing Sandy Davie.
2. John Ryan
Joined Luton from Fulham in 1969 and after missing September and most of October, returned to the side against Torquay on October 25, playing every game for the rest of the season.
3. Jack Bannister
Missed just league six matches all season as he made 40 appearances for the Hatters. Turned out 96 times before moving to Cambridge, never once finding the net in a Luton shirt.
4. Alan Slough
Born in Luton, he signed for the Hatters in 1965, having a fine career at Kenilworth Road. Missed the opening game of the season against Barrow, but played every match afterwards, notching four goals in total.
