The Hatters were one of eight English sides to take part in the competition that season, although didn't make it out of the group stages, with Fiorentina going on to reach the finals, where they lost to Newcastle United. Below, the Luton News takes a special look at just who took to the field for Town that day.
1. Graham Horn
Played three games in the competition as he kept two clean sheets in total. Made 72 appearances for the Hatters between 1972-76, before leaving for Los Angeles Aztecs.
2. Don Shanks
Started three out of the four games in the competition, netting two in the 4-0 home win over Bari. Made 110 appearances, scoring five goals, before moving to QPR, Brighton and then Wimbledon.
3. Bobby Thomson
Played all four games that year, as he scored once, during the 4-0 win over Bari, one of his two goals for Luton in 135 outings. Left in 1976 for American side Hartford Bicentennials.
4. Peter Anderson
Played in a variety of positions during Town's cup campaign, with three starts, scoring once in the 2-2 draw out in Lazio. Racked up 208 games and 40 goals for Luton, leaving in 1976 for Antwerp, while he also managed Millwall.
