The Hatters headed to the Baseball Ground to face the Rams, needing a win to stay up, with fellow relegation candidates Sheffield Wednesday having to lose at home to Nottingham Forest. Tim Breacker's stunning strike and a Kingsley Black double ensured Luton did their bit, while the Owls went down 3-0, as they dropped out of the league on goal difference. Defender hadnt played until November, but became a regular at the turn of the year, starting the final 16 games, while he was also on target in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, his first goal for Luton.
6. John Dreyer
Was one of three players who started every single top flight match for Town that season, on target twice against Southampton and Norwich City.
7. Danny Wilson
Midfielder enjoyed a fine season for the Hatters in what was to be his last campaign at Kenilworth Road. Scored seven goals in 35 outings, including four from the penalty spot.
8. Jason Rees
Had come through with Luton, making his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Everton on New Years Day. Broke into the first team regularly towards the end of the season, starting the last five matches for Town.
