Owusu back in contention for trip to Southport

Striker rested against Rushden

STRIKER Lloyd Owusu could earn an instant recall to the Hatters squad for the trip to Southport on Saturday after he was rested against Rushden & Diamonds in midweek, writes Mike Simmonds.

The forward has scored seven goals in 12 games since joining the club in January and manager Richard Money said: “It’s been in my mind to give Lloyd a rest, but I decided to stick with him as he is important to us.

“It just reached the stage on Saturday after an hour where he looked as though his legs had gone and I think the week off will do him the world of good.”

The game might come too early for Dan Gleeson and Freddie Murray, as Money added: “I think Freddie Murray might be back for one of the games next week and we’re hoping Gleeson won’t be too far behind. (Adam) Newton and (Jake) Howells were excellent at Rushden, but we do need that competition back.”
