Paisley praise for Devine’s supporters

TRAINER James Paisley paid tribute to the supporters who followed his young Luton charge Michael Devine to Brentwood at the weekend, wtites Mike Simmonds.

Devine was roared on by a vocal backing in his convincing points win over Robin Deakin for the seventh professional win of his career in the supporting bout for Audley Harrison’s fight with Ali Adams.

Paisley said: “Massive thanks go to the Luton supporters. They were really great, probably even louder than for the top of the bill fight that was on.”

Paisley was delighted with the way Devine, who is back in the ring on July 7 at York Hall, boxed to orders throughout the whole fight too.

He added: “Robin can throw some punches, but Michael listened to us and landed some good body shots.

“He (Deakin) was saved by the bell slightly in round three, but Michael is definitely maturing as a fighter now.”
