Points win prizes for Town boss Money

PRAGMATIC Hatters boss Richard Money is all about the three points as his side ground out a 1-0 win at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night, writes Mark Wood.

He said: “Three points on the board is the only thing that matters at this point in the season. It really is about winning the game first and foremost. People have to understand what it is at this time of year.

“They (Rovers) are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the league.

“The most important thing is we got three points. If we can play well on top of that it’s a bonus.”

Money, pictured right, was delighted by yet another clean sheet but disappointed his side didn’t net a decisive second goal – as they have only scored 18 in 15 away games this term.

He continued: “Clean sheets win you games and the one bit of football from either side wins us the game.

“I said at half time you have to score a second goal, we were mindful of what happened at Newport.”

The boss also hailed the contributions of his substitutes, saying: “I think Paul Carden came on and showed what he is, a real experienced head.

“We were able to bring Danny Crow on to give us a second striker which gives us a more solid look.”

Money also admitted Town need to ram home every advantage they can as they look to overhaul AFC Wimbledon and Crawley.

He added: “That (AFC’s 0-0 draw at Hayes & Yeading) puts our result in a little more perspective.

“They (Crawley) are making sure they win and we’ve got to do the same.

“We’ve clearly outlined to the players what it is they have to do this season.

“The third part of the season is about ramming it home and what we achieve will be determined by us, not other people, but we’ve got to make sure we meet the challenge.”
