Popular Luton midfielder bursting with pride after winning four awards at presentation evening
Clark picks up four prizes during end of year event
Hatters midfielder Jordan Clark was beaming with pride after winning four prizes at the Luton Town Supporters Trust awards night held at the Cross Keys in Pulloxhill on Wednesday night.
The long-serving 31-year-old was always going to walk off with the Goal of the Season honour after his stunning volley began the fightback that led to the 2-1 victory at Cardiff City recently. Less obvious were the next gongs that he won though, Clark named Junior Supporters’ Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year too. Discussing his personal honours afterwards, he said: “I’m really proud. It means a lot to me this football club and to get any award is great, so I’m really over the moon.
"It doesn't get much better when your team-mates are voting for you which always means a lot. You spend a lot of time with them and go through the trenches with them pretty much every day. You probably spend more time with them than you do your family half the time, but it means a lot. The one from the fans is really heart-warming, especially as it means a lot to me this football club now, I’ve been here for five years, and can’t thank everyone enough.”

Clark has been on the receiving end of such honours once before in his career when at Accrington Stanley, landing the Player of the Season honour during the 2018-19 campaign and also getting the Junior Supporters' Player of the Season too. He continued: “I won Player of the Year at Accrington one year, honestly though I didn’t deserve it. I was very friendly with the fans and think that’s why I got it as there were a couple of other players who deserved it more than me.
“It is nice to win, the Players’ Player is a big one for me as you spend a lot of time with those lads. I've been here five years now and they’re like family to me half of those lads, so to get an award from them makes me proud. The one from the fans is amazing as well as it’s a real special club for me now. I feel it, I don't live too far so I'm always bumping into Luton fans wherever I go and everyone's always so nice, so to get an award from them is really special as well.”
Remembering the volley that saw him earn the top goal award too, in front of Alfie Doughty’s long range strike at Sheffield Wednesday and Zack Nelson’s magnificent attempt against QPR during the Hatters’ Carabao Cup tie earlier in the campaign, Clark added: “I had a bit of a joke about it the other day and said I just whacked it, but when it sat up I just thought why not?
”It was an important goal to get us back to one-one and we went on to win the game which was massive for us, especially with how the results have been going for us lately where everyone has been picking up points. So it was an important three points and it was just nice to get us back in the game.”
