Practice pays off as Fleetwood nets wonder goal

Practice is paying off for striker Stuart Fleetwood after he netted a stunning strike in the 2-1 win at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

There didn’t look a great deal on on receiving Andre Gray’s pass 20 yards from goal, but in a flash, Fleetwood had cut inside full back Jamie Turley, before planting a superb curler into the top corner.

He said: “It’s one of those things that I practice all the time. I’ve scored a few of them in my career, a few this season. I side footed it and the keeper didn’t see it as I bent it round the defender.

“As soon as I hit it I knew it was in and it was nice to score that sort of goal here.”
