Premier League chief executive Richard Masters does not anticipate the reintroduction of five substitutes for the "foreseeable future".

England's top flight is the only major league in the world not doing so at the moment, despite ending the 2019-20 season with the ruling in place to help sides finish the campaign after it had been suspended due to lockdown for the coronavirus pandemic.

The matter has been voted on by Premier League clubs twice since, both times not receiving the 14 votes out of 20 to be implemented

Town boss Nathan Jones has constantly spoken about his desire to see the ruling reintroduced and had hoped with the likes of top flight heavy hitters Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp on board, there might be a change of heart.

However, when answering questions from MPs on a range of issues regarding football's response to the coronavirus pandemic this week, Masters said: "It's been voted on twice.

"I don't see it changing for the foreseeable future."
