Midfielder Glen Rea could well make a return to the Hatters squad for tomorrow's home clash with Swansea City.

The 26-year-old, who has made 31 appearances this season, scoring twice, wasn't included in the trip to league leaders Norwich City last weekend, the Canaries running out 3-0 winners.

On his absence at Carrow Road, boss Nathan Jones said: "He missed out on the squad as he just had a sore Achilles, so we didn’t risk it as we had Tuesday (postponed Rotherham match) in mind, because Achilles can be tricky.

"But he’s a lot closer this week then he was last week."

Rea's anticipated availability means Town have no new injury concerns, although they will still be without central defenders Tom Lockyer and Sonny Bradley, as Jones continued: "Bradley and Lockyer are still a couple of weeks away, so they are the ones who miss out a little bit."

The Hatters go into the contest on the back of an unexpected week off following their game against Rotherham being called off due to the Millers' players contracting coronavirus.

Jones confirmed he would rather had played, but put the time on the training ground to good use, saying: "We’ve been able to do some good work, but we’d have preferred to have played our game in hand really, because with our game in hand we could have gone 10th or 11th as it was, and that’s something we’d have really been pleased with.

"But we can’t second guess it, there is nothing we could do, and we just move on.

"We’ve used the week well, a little bit more rest, and plenty of work then from Tuesday onwards, so it’s been a good week."

Luton will be in action on Tuesday night this week though, hosting Coventry City, before visiting Preston North End next weekend.

Although Jones made changes for the match against Norwich on Saturday thinking the Rotherham game would be going ahead, he might not opt to do so this time having had the enforced break, adding: "We just take Swansea first, then once we play Swansea we deal with Coventry.

"It was slightly different last time because we went Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, then to Norwich and straight into Rotherham.

"We earmarked Rotherham as a real big game in terms of that, so we made sure we were fresh for both games, but ironically after we’d done our prep work the Rotherham game was called off.

"Stuff might have been different, I don’t know, but this week is slightly different.

"We’ve had a rest and now we’ve got three games, so we’ll be picking a team to try and win three games."
