Luton midfielder Glen Rea has hailed the club's 'unbelievable' fans after agreeing to sign a new long-term deal at Kenilworth Road.

The 25-year-old has endeared himself on the terraces during his 152 appearances so far, with supporters desperate for the former Brighton player to agree a contract after becoming a free agent this summer.

He duly obliged, with the news made public this morning, as speaking to the official website, Rea said: “This whole club is important to me.

"From the fans, who are great, every single member of staff here is great, every player here is great, the manager is great.

“It’s just a great club to be at and if the fans are delighted to see me stay, then I’m delighted to give them that joy or whatever it is they are feeling.

"I’m just so happy to be here."

Although there were no supporters allowed into the ground to watch Luton complete their Great Escape recently, Rea knew the backing was always there.

He continued: "It’s a crazy time, but I know they were watching at home, and I’m sure there were celebrations going on back at home – but it’s been tough not having them at the grounds, including the away games.

“At the Kenny they are unbelievable, but away they are so important too, so it’s been tough not having them.

"Hopefully this coming season, things might change and they’ll be allowed back, but it has been sad not having them in the ground.

“They are a great bunch and Luton is just a great place to be. Everything about the club is unbelievable.”

Rea also reserved praise for Town's returning manager Nathan Jones, who signed him initially from the Seagulls back in March 2016.

He added: "No-one can deny that he’s an unbelievable manager, he’s an unbelievable coach, so we are delighted to have him back.

"He’s unreal and I’m happy to sign again for him. You know my relationship with him, it was a no-brainer really.”
