Rotting in Luton’s reserves was not an option for O’Connor

ROTTING on the sidelines was never an option for hard-working striker Aaron O’Connor after he joined Conference rivals Newport County last week, writes Mark Wood.

Having had it made clear that he was well down the pecking order by manager Paul Buckle, the 28-year-old wasn’t prepared to sit around kicking his heels for the last 12 months of his two-year deal.

O’Connor hit nine goals in 39 appearances for Luton after joining the club following the demise of Rushden & Diamonds, before becoming player number 15 to leave the club in the close season.

The forward also revealed it took some time to hammer out a move to the Exiles, which reunites him with former Hatters Danny Crow and Ryan Charles.
