Rovers bring in two for Luton trip

Kamara and Mills sign for Forest

FOREST Green Rovers could include two debutants during tonight’s Blue Square Bet Premier clash at Luton Town, writes Mike Simmonds.

Midfielder Gary Mills has joined on a one-month loan from Hatters promotion rivals Mansfield, where he played the 90 minutes at Kenilworth Road as the Stags were beaten 2-0 last month.

Meanwhile, former Huddersfield Town winger Malvin Kamara, who has plenty of Championship and League One experience and is also a Sierra Leone international completed a short-term move

There could even be a third new signing on display as manager David Hockaday looks to end a run of 11 matches without a win.

Speaking ahead of the match, the boss said: “The gloves are off now and it’s a case of ‘no more Mr Nice Guy’ if you like.

“The players have been given plenty of opportunities and too many are not performing to the level.

“I can only keep faith with people for so long and the time has come to make big changes.

“My targets were a wide player, a central midfielder and a striker and I’m hoping to have all three in time for the Luton game.”

Despite Rovers poor league form that has seen them slump to second bottom in the table, they did earn impressive draws with AFC Wimbledon and Grimsby Town recently.

Hockaday is now hoping they can display that sort of form this evening.

He added: “We’ve showed against Wimbledon and Grimsby in the last couple of weeks that we can live with the big boys.

“Our problem has been against the teams around us, but that’s for another day and I really want us to put in a proud performance and show some character at Luton.”
