Skipper Pilkington happy to be placed on the spot
His howitzer down the middle from the spot on Saturday saw the Hatters edge to a 1-0 home win over Alfreton and he’s more than happy to maintain spot-kick duties after seeing a large number of team-mates miss from 12 yards this season.
Pilkington said: “I’ve never really been a penalty taker in my career, but it was my turn to step forward and fortunately I got a good contact on it and it went in the back of the net.

Hide Ad“I sort of made my mind up (where to go) after I put the ball down and walked back. I think the important thing is not to change your mind. Do a little run up and just back yourself and that’s what I did. The rest was history really.”
