Luton keeper Simon Sluga was an unused substitute as Croatia were hammered 4-1 by Nations League holders Portugal at the Estadio do Dragao on Saturday.

With Dinamo Zagreb's Dominik Livaković preferred between the posts, Sluga could only watch on as the hosts, even without Cristiano Ronaldo, were far too strong.

Nikola Vlasic nearly gave Croatia a second-minute lead when his shot was tipped around the post by Anthony Lopes, but after that it was all Portugal.

Joao Felix, Diogo Jota and Raphael Guerreiro's were all denied by the woodwork until Portugal finally took the lead when Joao Cancelo broke the deadlock just before half time.

In the second period, Jota slotted home almost on the hour, while Felix made it 3-0 on 71 minutes.

Although Bruno Petkovic pulled one back in stoppage time, Portugal substitute Andre Silva slid in a fourth goal.

Sluga will hope to be involved when his side go to France tomorrow evening.
