Smith has unfinished business at Kenilworth Road

The 28-year-old penned his new contract, that has an option for a fourth year, on Friday and immediately turned his attentions to a successful League Two promotion charge next term.

Smith said: “I’m already really excited to get back already and I feel like we’ve got unfinished business. Next season we’re all going to be pushing as hard as we can to get to League One, we’re not just happy being at this level.

“Now that I’ve signed my contract, I’ll give it absolutely everything. I won’t leave any stone unturned in terms of my dedication towards getting this club up.

“I won’t be resting on my laurels as I’ve got a contract.

“My aim is to win and in my career, do as much as I possibly can in terms of promotions, medals and trophies.”

Smith admitted he had never been looking to play anywhere else other than at Kenilworth Road next season either, where he can build on the 100 appearances he has already made for the club.

He was also full of praise for the special relationship he has with Town supporters once more, after walking away with three awards at the end of season presentation.
