The Norwich City youngster had an excellent loan spell at Kenilworth Road last season playing his part in helping Luton lift the Conference title.

McGeehan, now on loan with Cambridge, impressed greatly when up against his former team-mates for the first time on Saturday.

Smith said: “Cameron is a very good friend of mine.

“When he came here last year he slotted in very well and did an absolutely amazing job for the team.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for the guy as he’s a top, top lad as well and I’d love to see him back in a Luton shirt with us.”

One fully committed challenge between the pair in the first half showed there would be no holding back as Smith admitted it was always going to be business as usual on the pitch.
