Stevenson backs Fitzsimons to be a hit at Hatters

New Town signing James Stevenson wasn’t surprised in the slightest to be joined at Luton by former Histon team-mate Danny Fitzsimons, writes Mike Simmonds.

The pair became Hatters’ boss John Still’s fifth and sixth summer acquisitions last week, as they both moved from the Stutes.

After seeing Fitzimons walk off with a host of end of season awards at Bridge Road, Stevenson believes the fellow 21-year-0ld will soon become a hit with the Hatters faithful too.

He said: “Fitzy had a great year last year, a strong year, so I wasn’t surprised he got his move, he really deserves it.

“He’ll wear his heart on his sleeve every minute of the game.

“He’s completely committed to a tackle or header, whatever the score, whatever the situation.”

One thing the pair will be prepared for is the full-time training regime, something that striker Alex Wall struggled to get to grips with after his move from Maidenhead.
