Still backs Fitzsimons to bounce back

Inspiring Town chief John Still has backed defender Danny Fitzsimons to bounce back stronger than ever after undergoing a season-ending knee operation last week, writes Mark Wood.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury in pre-season after signing from Histon in the summer.

But Still has backed the youngster to show his steely character, saying: “He’s a young man and I really feel for him, but I’m not going to tell him that though because you know what disappointment does?

“It makes the weak weaker and the strong stronger. I know his character is strong so I want to see how strong he really is.

“And if he’s as strong as I think he is, he won’t only bounce back, he’ll bounce back a better player, a better person and better able to deal with disappointment.”
