Town go into tonight’s Skrill Premier clash at Wrexham having scored just five goals all season, with only one, Luke Guttridge’s last-gasp leveller against Macclesfield coming from open play.

The Hatters are yet to notch in the first half of any game so far this term, while no Luton forward has been on the scoresheet yet either.

Still said: “Goalscoring is an instinct. If you have players within your club who normally have a record of scoring goals, then normally over the course of the season they will score goals.

“We have Paul (Benson) now. Jon Shaw, who did an absolutely marvellous job for this club injured.

“Alex Wall, all of a sudden is getting fit, there was a development game on Tuesday, he played and scored goal.

“Andre Gray who scored goals last year, Mark Cullen we think can score goals. They haven’t done it yet, but we believe they will.”

Hatters’ drought in front of goal is in marked difference to their pre-season form where they couldn’t stop scoring, netting seven against an Arsenal XI.

Still added: “I’m never fooled by pre-season, good or bad, but it’s crazy because in pre-season, we weren’t just winning games 1-0.

“The tell-tale signs were we were capable of scoring goals. Starting this season, I did know we had players who could do a certain job, it was just a matter of how long it would take them to get into the season.

“I want us to play quick, two touch, attacking, passing football though. We saw glimpses of that last year and I think we’ve seen glimpses of it this year.

“I’m happy with that and I see progress in us all the time.”
