Still believes Tranmere are a different proposition under Adams

Still said: “We could have taken advantage of them, but they’ve changed their manager to someone I know very, very well.

“Micky Adams is a very experienced manager, a very good manager.

“I’m not saying they weren’t organised and I’m not saying they weren’t playing with discipline, but they will be now.

“Because that’s his teams. So whatever they were, they won’t be on Saturday. From what was going to be a tough game as they’re all tough, it’s going to be a little bit tougher.”

Still couldn’t put his finger on why the Merseyside club had made such a disappointing start to their campaign, although felt dropping down from League One may have played a part.

He continued: “After relegation last season, if they’ve come in and I’m not saying they have, but if they’ve come in with a bit of apathy about the place, a bit despondent and people perhaps found it hard to lift themselves, that may be a reason.

“I’m not saying it is, as I’m not there, but I’ve seen that happen before.”

Still also knew exactly who to look out for in the Rovers’ side too as he said: “He has one or two decent young ones and the boy Max Power is a very, very good player.

“The evening that we had the championship confirmed, I was at Crawley, watching Crawley versus Tranmere and Power stood out then.

“We liked him, I took a note of him in my head and I think we have to make sure we’re in and around him.”

It wasn’t just Power that Still has been impressed by either as he added: “I know Mick’s teams are always organised but have some decent individuals and as he’s gone to the club, he’s probably finding out about some of the players.

“George (Donnelly’s) a good player, but he can’t play, they’ve got the lad Kayode Odejayi, he’s a big awkward player and he’s been in and out of the team.

“Away from home, he might be what I call a good foil. The boy (Marcus) Holness at the back is an experienced player.

“He’s been around and Micky will need all the experience he’s got in the team.”
