The summer signing from Partick Thistle was left out of the squad for Tuesday night’s 3-1 win at Morecambe after struggling badly against AFC Wimbleon on Saturday, when he was substituted after an hour.

Still opted for Scott Cuthbert in his place at the Globe Arena, as he said: “It’s all new for Steve. He had a difficult time Saturday, but we all think a lot of him and I explained to him, ‘just have a rest’.

“He’ll play, Steve will be back in I’ve got no doubt about it all as we like Steve, but he’s still learning it.

“I brought Scott in. It was a little bit of a risk as he’s missed a little bit of it and had to come off at the end, although that was just cramp.

“But we know that they’re a big side with good restarts and I just felt that Scott’s aerial ability would be a plus. We know he can do the job, so we were quite comfortable with the change.”

Still also felt fellow full back Scott Griffiths had been culpable for the Shrimps equaliser, although he he redeemed himself afterwards, adding: “I was very disappointed because we do so much back four work about keeping your body open, seeing your runners and Scott didn’t.

“Scott’s played very well let me say, but it’s the errors, we’ve got to get the errors out of our game.”
