Still confident Town will rediscover their form

Town, who welcome second-placed Cheltenham Town to Kenilworth Road today, have taken just five points from their opening six games and failed to win since the opening day.

But Still believes that run will change soon as he said: “I know where we are, I know what round pegs are in round holes and I know what square pegs might have been in round holes and we want to get out of that.

“You’re governed a little bit by injury as you can only do so much, but by and large now, I’m well aware of what individuals can do and well aware of how well the team can play.

“If I was in any sort of doubt, the team that played Plymouth was a Luton team as they moved the ball quick, passed it quick, created opportunities.

“There were a couple of games we hadn’t created enough, but some of our movement, the movement from Jake Howells to almost score, the one touch passing was as good as anything last year.

“That’s still in us, we just need to keep working hard all the time and normally you find that form is temporary.

“Sometimes you can lose a bit, but if you keep working that will come back, so I fully expect people to find the target as we did last year.”

One thing that Still has been satisfied with is that they remain tough to beat as he continued: “Even away to Shrewsbury and they were better than us on the day, they scored in the third minute and the goalkeeper dropped the ball over the line.

“We still have that resilience in us which we had last year and that comes better with confidence, if you can go a game or two without conceding then that grows too.”

Meanwhile, the Robins have started the season in superb form, racking up four wins and two draws so far, and when asked why he thought they had begun so well, Still added: “I don’t know, because you don’t know in this game.

“Some teams start quick, some start slow. Obviously they’ve found a good way, will they maintain it? I don’t know.

“If you look at their players, they’ve got some good players, and normally good players find a way.

“So I think the reason they’re doing well is they’ve got reasonable players. Are they much different from last year when they didn’t have a particularly good season? I don’t know.

“On paper they have decent players and those decent players are doing okay for them.”
