Still expects Benson to be out until new year

Hatters boss John Still expects to be without striker Paul Benson for at least two months after he broke his leg against Mansfield Town on Saturday.

The 35-year-old injured himself while making an innocuous challenge just before the half hour mark and had to be stretchered off.

Still said: “We’ve seen him, he’s disappointed and a bit low, although fortunately it’s not the main bone.

“But it’s six weeks or so. I don’t attach any blame to anyone, it’s just one of those things that happens.”

The news is a real blow for Benson, who scored his first league goal of the season and looked to be getting back to somewhere near his best.

Still confirmed he wasn’t going to recall Alex Wall from his loan spell at Bristol Rovers either, while with Ross Lafayette recovering from his hernia operation, both Ricky Miller and Charlie Walker could come into contention.
