Still expects Oxford to come good

The Yellows are currently 22nd in the division with just one win to their name from the opening nine games.

However, they have gone five matches in the league without defeat, as Still said: “Oxford have got back in the league and have established themselves as a Football League club against.

“I know most of their players, and although they haven’t started great, there’s not a lot in the games as we found ourselves.

“I’ve seen match reports, they look to have done okay, but I’m sure there’s lots more improvement in them and if I’m honest, I don’t envisage them being a bottom half team.

“I think this is an opportunity for them to try and push on and an opportunity for us to establish what we have done over the last couple of games which is some good performances and some good results.”

Boss Michael Appleton took over in the summer and has brought in a number of attacking options, including Peterborough United striker Tyrone Barnett, but it’s top scorer Danny Hylton who Still is watching out for.

He continued: “Danny Hylton’s a decent player, always has been. In his time at Aldershot, I thought he was a handful.

“Then he went to Rotherham and it wasn’t quite right, I don’t know why, but he’ll be okay.

“They took the boy (Brian) Howard as well, who’s a very experienced player who can play.

“They have some decent players, but we have some decent players as well, and I think sometimes it’s more about a decent team than decent players.”

The two clubs have enjoyed plenty of battles over the years, from recent clashes in the Conference, to the old Division One meetings during the 1980s.

Still added: “Even as Conference clubs, I think you’re talking about two clubs that would look at themselves as Football League clubs.

“So I would have thought that playing in the Conference is a big game, certainly crowd wise would have been decent, and I think it will be Saturday.”
