Still hints at loan movement during window

The loan window opened for clubs today, and Still, who had been left frustrated in attempts to secure another deal before the transfer deadline, will turn his attention to strengthening his squad further.

He said: “I’m not saying before tomorrow night’s game, but in the next week maybe there will be some movement possibly both ways, but it’s never done until it’s done, so we’ll wait and see.

“We were working on this before the transfer window came and it wasn’t possible.

“The window closed, but now it’s opened again for loans so we’ll pursue those things we were working on just to see if there’s any possibilities of ins and outs.”

Still confirmed that Norwich City midfielder Cameron McGeehan, who was sent off in the last game of his loan spell with Cambridge on Saturday, remains on his wanted list.

He continued: “We have been interested in Cameron from the day that he left here, but only permanent, or for a year.

“They wouldn’t do a year loan, so that wasn’t going to happen. We have tried since the time he went back to see if there’s a deal to be done.

“That will continue until he does or doesn’t come here or goes somewhere else. We are trying and have tried to do so from day one.”

Still reiterated though that any loan moves that Hatters are interested in, will be done with one eye on the future.

He added: “I’m not interested in month’s, I don’t really want to do that.

“If it’s a plan, it’s different and when we brought Jayden (Stockley) in, it was for a month, and we extended that.

“With Paul (Benson), Ross Lafayette and Alex Wall, they were all injured, so it was difficult.

“But when they’re all back, that makes a massive difference to our situation.

“I think Cambridge found that with Cam, to go for a month and he’s done well there.

“All of a sudden he’s got to go back and they’re scrapping around ‘who can come in, what are you going to do?’.

“If you loan, it should be with a view to try and bring in. It’s what we’ve done with Pelly (Ruddock Mpanzu), what we’re doing with Michael Harriman, and with any player that we bring in.

“The only other exception is if it’s a long term, someone to the end of the season, which is what we’ve done with Nathan (Oduwa).”
