Still hopes Trotman deal will aid in rehabilitation

The 17-year-old is currently recovering from a badly broken leg suffered in September, but penned his deal at Kenilworth Road last Wednesday.

Although he is now back jogging, Still said: “One of the reasons we decided to do this, is I don’t want him to rush.

“I want him to relax, make sure he’s completely 100 per cent fit before he attempts anything, without having to worry about getting a pro deal.

“He’s got the pro deal so he can get himself properly fit.

“He’s been very unfortunate with his injury, but he’s on his way back from that.

“We wanted to give him a bit of reassurance because we think a lot of him, we really do, and it’s very deserved.

“If he hadn’t had this injury, he might have been in and around one or two of our squads. That’s not going to happen at the moment, but he will be in the future.”

Trotman caught Still’s eye almost immediately and he was handed his debut as a 16-year-old against Cambridge in the FA Trophy last season. It’s not just on the pitch where he has impressed the manager too, who also was enthusiastic by the youth set-up in place at Kenilworth Road.
