Still insists Green and Hall have a big part to play

Hatters boss John Still insists that both Ryan Hall and Danny Green have big part to play for the club this season.

Much was expected from Green after he moved from MK Dons in the summer, but the winger has made just four league starts so far.

Meanwhile, Hall has been restricted to a mere two, but Still urged the pair to continue fighting for a place, saying: “They’re both there, but in the team, people are doing okay at the moment.

“It’s going well and they have to keep working hard to wait for their chance.

“Their chance will come as this is football, those two waiting in the wings is good for me.”

Luton visit Crawley Town today and after two away performances that have yielded seven goals with wins at Morecambe and Hartlepool, Still didn’t think the hosts would adopt a more defensive outlook.

He continued: “It’s harder for the home team to do it. Sometimes you might have that intention to sit deep, but the crowd urge you forward.

“In football at the moment, there are lots of away results and I think sometimes the crowd wanting to help you doesn’t always help you as they want to get forward and you get hit on the break.”

Town’s added threat in front of goal on their travels this season hasn’t come by chance either according to Still and he sees the currently out of favour Green as another string to their attacking bow too, adding: “We’ve worked this year on getting people into the box and it’s paying off.

“We’re pleased with that, but I think the longer the season goes, you’ll see Craig’s (Mackail-Smith) goals. He’s working his absolute socks off, he’s been out for a while and think gradually he will get into that goalscoring mode.

“I know Ryan Hall can score, Danny Green got 14 or 15 goals before, they’ve got goals in them as well, Jack Marriott as well.

“We have goals in us and there’s more goals in there as well. If we can keep supplying chances when Benno’s (Paul Benson) fit, Benno’s a proven goalscorer as well so I think we’ve got lots of goals in the team.”
