Still knows Foxes victory will lift Shrews

Hatters boss John Still believes tomorrow’s opponents Shrewsbury Town will go into the clash full of confidence after a shock 1-0 win at Premier League Leicester in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

Former Luton forward Andy Mangan scored the only goal of the game in the upset as Still said: “I think if your form is good and you’re getting good results, you go into games confident.

“But we are not unconfident, we believe that we have parts of our game that are very, very good. We also think if we keep working hard, the bits not quite as good, will start to come together as we felt they did last year.”

Still also praised manager Micky Mellon for the job he’s doing at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium since taking over in May and believe the Shrews, who are currently sixth, will be challenging for promotion this campaign.

He continued: “I don’t know him (Mellon) too much, but came across him when he was at Fleetwood.

“They came to Dagenham when I was there and had a good side.

“He’s had a little break and he’s come back at Shrewsbury. It look like they’re having a go, with the players they’ve brought in.

“Shrewsbury we think will be one of the strong ones. They’ve started well, but obviously they have to maintain their form.

“They may be at the peak of their form at the moment. Our form is still coming together, so lets have a look and see.”

Shrewsbury boss Mellon made sure to warn him squad though not to get carried away by their midweek success as he told the club’s official website: “Because of the strength of the squad I think that, if you do get a bit carried away, you’ll lose your place.

“That in itself will go some way to making sure we stay grounded.

“The work we have done is fantastic, but there’s a long way to go so we have to keep putting in the work like we have done.”
