With the Canaries under new management as ex-Hamilton chief Alex Neil recently replaced Neil Adams, Still confirmed he had been in touch, only to find a permanent deal for the teenager remained unavailable.

He said: “We did ask, but they’re only interested in a loan and there’s no value in loaning at the moment.

“We would take Cameron McGeehan and Cameron McGeehan would come but I don’t want to loan him.

“If I loan him now, at this particular moment, he’d be behind (Nathan) Doyle, behind (Jonathan) Smith and probably behind (Andy) Drury.

“Well there’s no benefit in that. Would I take him permanently? Yes we would. If we get a chance to take him permanently, will we? Yes we will.

“But why would I bring him in to sit on the bench and not play? They’d want him to play and I understand that.

“There’s no benefit in that for us at the moment. Take him permanently? Yes. Loan him? We don’t need to.”
