Still pleased as Hatters plug leaky defence

After managing just one in their previous 10, the Hatters have now only conceded once in three games as Still said: “What’s pleased me is that the three games, we’ve conceded one goal.

“We’re back to that, we looked solid, worked our socks off, so I’m pleased with that.

“The last three games, we’ve conceded one goal, once with 10 men, once against a team top of the league, who with the greatest respect, I thought we were better than them, so I’m happy with our form now.”

Midfielder Jonathan Smith was also delighted that Town had re-found their solidity and praised Hatters’ 875 fans for their input on the night too.

He said: “We’re a hard working team and have got to get back to what we were doing.

“For a couple of the lads, the last 10 minutes was really tough, but the noise we were getting from the fans was, especially for me, gave me a right push to push on for the last 10 minutes.

“They really made a difference and if they can keep doing like that, it makes a massive difference to the team.”

That view was echoed by keeper Elliot Justham too as he added: “The second half they were dragging the ball towards them, getting us up. It really did help and they did well for us.”
