Still praise for his ‘professional’ Hatters

Although never at their fluent best, particularly in the opening 40 minutes, Still didn’t harbour too many complaints, considering it was Luton’s sixth straight League Two win.

Still said: “We never got a tempo in the first half and I just said at half time forget me, forget everything else, we’ve got to go and play like Luton.

“I thought we did a bit second half, where we scored the third one and could have got another.

“But you know what, as long as they work hard, you can’t get perfection every week, it’s not possible.

“We can’t really win every week, but you’ve got to be professional every week and I thought we were professional.

“How can I have any complaints? As long as they work hard we’ll be good often enough and at the moment we’re good often enough.”

Striker Mark Cullen admitted the players had been frustrated by their first half efforts, despite leading 2-0 thanks to his quickfire double.

He continued: “We came in at half time and we were quite disappointed really with the way we played every though we were two goals up.”

It was the same for defender Scott Griffiths too as he said: “I don’t think we come out as fast or as strong as we planned to.

“We looked half a yard off the pace at first and it took the goal to sort of gee us up.

“It shouldn’t take a goal to gee us up, but we got ourselves firing and then in the second half we carried on with what we were doing.

“We attacked well, possibly could have had another one, but three goals isn’t bad.”

Griffiths himself came close to being in the position for a strike on goal and admitted he was desperate to add to his record of one in 66 appearances for the club so far.

He laughed: “I’m a striker at heart really, I’ve been put back into a defensive position.

“I think I was unlucky not to release a couple in the box. I brought a couple out of the sky and didn’t quite have time to connect to them, I’m getting close though and it will come.”
